Paediatric dentistry (pedodontics) is in charge of dental disease prevention, early detection, and treatment (caries, unintentional injuries, etc.). In addition to caries care in deciduous and permanent teeth, the paediatric dentistry department is responsible for the treatment, prevention, and oral hygiene of common oral traumas, particularly in young children.
Why Is Paediatric Dentistry Important?
Every child has a unique personality and temperament, and they may react differently when they begin to experience health practices. The pedodontics approach uses a variety of pedagogical strategies to address the child's problems. It instructs and guides them in developing behaviours that will benefit their dental health.
Because it is critical to educate children and parents about dental cleanliness, proper eating habits, thumb sucking, and bottle rot, we recommend that the first encounter occur between the ages of 2-3 years. During this period, we will also aim to build a trusting relationship with the youngster.
Milk teeth play an important part in the growth and development of children's jaws, even if they eventually replace permanent teeth. In addition to guiding the health of future permanent teeth, they are required for excellent occlusion, proper chewing, and mature swallowing.
